5 Ways To Surprise Your "Little" Sorority Sister

Posted on: 29 April 2015

If you're in a sorority, chances are you will eventually be assigned as a "big sister" to a new pledge. As a big sister, you will act as a role model and advisor while your "little" is initiated into the sorority. You will also continue to be an important part of their sorority experience throughout college. The big sister/little sister relationship should be both fun and meaningful. In order to help accomplish this, here are five ways to surprise your little:

Create a Scavenger Hunt

No matter how old you are, a scavenger hunt is always exciting. Instead of simply giving your little sister a bunch of small presents during Big/Little week, try leaving a trail of clues to gifts you've hidden around the sorority house or even the whole campus. This guide to creating a scavenger hunt will keep you organized and save you time.

Surprise Them with a Special Shirt or Hat

A big benefit of joining a sorority is feeling like you belong to a group, and one way to help give your little sister that feeling is to gift her with a cute tee shirt, hoodie or baseball cap with your sorority name and Greek letters. To make this gift more special, pay a little extra to have her name embroidered, or look for items that specifically say "Little Sister" on them, with you wearing the complementary "Big Sister" item yourself. Check out companies like The Houndstooth Press you can help you with some of this,

Treat Them to a Spa Day

Starting college and joining a sorority can be a very busy and stressful time, so why not help your little sister relax with a little extra pampering? If you have the means, a day of pedicures and facials at a day spa would be a nice unexpected gesture- be sure to look online for specials and coupons first.

If a day at the spa is out of your budget, it can be just as fun to have an at-home spa day. Simply stock up on face masks, nail polish and other supplies at the drug store. To add a more spa-like touch, set out a pitcher of cucumber and lemon water and play relaxing music.

Make Them Dinner

Do you love to cook? Your little sister might be missing the comforts of home and a good home-cooked meal, so feel free to give them a break from dorm food with a surprise dinner. Just be sure to check with them first to see if they're vegetarian and also to make sure they don't have any food allergies or food they simply dislike. Making something that will result in leftovers for them to bring back to their room is especially thoughtful. You can't go wrong with something classic like a roasted chicken with vegetables or lasagna and salad.

Spend Some Quality Time with Them

Sometimes the best way to make your sorority little feel special doesn't cost any money. Your little sister knows that you are busy with both academic and sorority obligations, so making it a priority to spend time with her will really stand out and be meaningful. Just sitting and talking over coffee or going for a walk will help her feel closer to you.

This can also be a great way to let her know you're there for her if she needs to talk. Remember how scary it was to be a new college student away from home for the first time. Your little sister probably feels the same way!

By surprising your little sister in these ways, you will make her experience as a new sorority member more fun and help her to feel welcome.

mail out fliers to promote retail businesses

One very effective form of advertising for a retail business is mail out fliers. If you can promote your business by advertising sales and special deals to the people that live in the general area, you can increase sales for the year. So, how do you go about starting a mail-out campaign? First, you have to design the advertisement and find a printing service to have the advertisements made. I have learned quite a bit over the years that could help you create an effective advertisement for your business and keep the cost of printing to a minimum. Hopefully, you find all that you need to kick off an excellent campaign.
